The use of massage and electrotherapy’s work to loosen up their muscles and any stress or tension that may have developed throughout their bodies. I have noticed that many horses tend to yawn as a sign that there is tension being released throughout the body. 

This is called the the Sympathetic-Parasympathetic shift.

As a physiotherapist, there are many tools that can be used to help your horse. Massage is very beneficial to any animal. The depth of muscle, especially in horses, is too great to treat by hand alone. 

Physiotherapy equipment is required, not only to treat muscle conditions but bones, skin, tendon and ligaments.

One type of electrotherapy that can be extremely beneficial is Long Wave Ultrasound. 

What are the benefits of ultrasound therapy?

An animal physiotherapists role is to aid the natural healing of your animal's body. 

This involves working with multiple systems within the body, including, skeletal, muscular, lymphatic and circulatory systems.

Working alongside your veterinary team, this can be achieved using
manual and electro therapies such as massage, stretching, phototherapy, ultrasound, PEMF (Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field therapy)and electro stimulation.
