Alec Lochore

Following on from significant roles at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Alec was in June 2018 appointed as Consultant Equestrian Sport Manager to the Organising Committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where he was responsible for the planning and delivery of the Test Event in August 2019 and now instrumental in the delivery of the delayed Olympic Games in the summer of 2021.
As a consultant and/or team member to major infrastructure projects through design, planning and delivery phases of projects over the past few years, Alec has been the lead Equestrian consultant on significant projects in America, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Ukraine as well as the UK.
Alec started his career as a professional athlete in the sport of eventing back in 1992 and regularly competed at events of the highest level including finishing in the top 25 at both the world renowned Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials.
During the latter part of his riding career Alec began to branch out into other areas of the sport and became involved in both event management (through his company Musketeer Event Management) including cross country course design and also as and International Technical Delegate working both Nationally and Internationally.
Alec has held several notable board positions including Deputy Chairman FEI Technical Committee (Eventing) 2010 – 2014, Board of Directors for British Eventing 2006 – 2010 and Chairman of the National Equestrian Safety Committee 2009 – 2010 and has over 18 years has run in excess of 120 high level National and International Equestrian events in a number of different countries.
Alec as the Event Director of some highly regarded and established International events heads up a small and knowledgeable team responsible for events including:

Houghton International
Barbury Castle International Horse Trials
Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair
In 2015 Alec was Event Director of the Longines FEI European Eventing Championships at Blair Castle, an event he was responsible for from expression of interests, through the bid & award stages through to the final delivery of the event.
Between 2010 and 2012 Alec also held the position of Eventing Manager at the London 2012 Olympic Games where he was part of the team responsible for the venue design and integration with sport as well as managing the organisation and delivery of the Eventing competition for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
His unique all round experience has led him to hold officially recognised positions within sport including those of FEI Technical Delegate at events such as:

Alec has also worked as an International Technical Official and International Sports Specialist at events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics (Hong Kong), Doha Asian Games (2006).
Alec enjoys all sports both as a competitor and supporter, with particular interests in rugby, skiing, golf and horse racing. He has also successfully ridden the Cresta Run and crewed in a transatlantic yacht race. The latest craze is running in marathons.
He is married with two sons, and lives in the UK on the north Norfolk Coast.

Alec is now developing a reputation for himself as Event & Equestrian Consultant handling development projects in the Middle East, USA, Russia and Ireland as well as the UK, and is also in demand for sporting projects outside the Equestrian sector including such events as the World Tennis Day in London.
Alec enjoys all sports both as a competitor and supporter, with particular interests in rugby, skiing, golf and horse racing. He has also successfully ridden the Cresta Run, completed several marathons and crewed in a transatlantic yacht race, achieving first place in division.
He also competed at Blair Castle every year from 1990 to 2000 and 2003 and was the Technical Delegate in 2007 & 2008.
