Winning Ways at Sharjah and a GCL Announcement
Winning Ways at Sharjah and a GCL Announcement

What a week it’s been at Sharjah International with the team taking 4 wins, with a total 7 podium finishes. We really are extremely lucky to be out here with Team Z7 riding such phenomenal horses, at such amazing venues.

Shane started the week taking the win in the 1m40 qualifier on Can Ya Makan, jumping a speedy second phase in under 32 seconds. Evita gave Shane his second win of the day excelling herself in the 1m45 and jumped a beautiful double clear to finish on top. Jack and Essenar High Hopes finished off the day for the Breen Team with a 3rd place in the 1m50 Grand Prix Qualifier following a fantastic round from both horse and rider.

On Thursday Shane came out meaning business, with Z7 Ipswich on top form, adding to the team’s winning tally with a lovely double clear round the 5* 1m50 jump off class, unusually finishing in joint first place alongside Egypt’s Mouda Zeyada. A great result for the new ownership with Team Z7 and Sheika Maitha

The final day started with both Shane and Jack jumping double clears on Z7 Ascot and Cuick Star Kervec respectively. But it was Z7 Ascot who had the edge and took second place with less than 0.5 seconds between them and the winner, while Jack and Cuick Star finished a very respectable 6th place. Z7 Regal Don then followed suit and gave Shane his 4th win of the competition in the 7 year old final, jumping a spectacular double clear, winning by over 10 seconds. A nice follow up after the horse won the 6 year old final at this show last year.

Georgia has now flown out to Dubai to join the team and we’re looking forward to seeing what is in store at the next show.

This week also came with the announcement that Shane will be joining New York Empire in the Global Champions League, riding alongside Georgina Bloomberg, Scott Brash Daniel Bluman Denis Lynch and Spencer Smith.

Following in runner-up position were Gerfried Puck (AUT) and Bingo du Parc (Mylord Carthago x Diamant de Semilly), after stopping the clock on 45.90 seconds. Third place went to Osama Al Zabibi (SYR) on Flash Gordon (For Keeps x Polydor) with a time of 52.83 seconds.
