Equestrian Team end school year on a high

Hurst’s equestrian team ended the school year on a high with great success at the National Schools and Pony Club Jumping Championships. This event, held in the famous International Arena at the Hickstead Showground, was the culmination of qualifying events during the year.

Freddie L performed well in the first class of the day, the 1.10m Elite Championship. He was unlucky to pick up eight faults, in only his second time jumping at this height – the first when he qualified in June – and did well in the daunting arena.

Juniors
In the second class, the junior Red Team achieved an excellent second place in the 90cm class. Congratulations to Millie S, Lars D, Henry C and Ralf B. With a phenomenal round on his pony Irish Hotshot, Ralf also placed second individually. Well done to the junior Blue Team of Lara B, Scarlet S H and Isla A, who also performed well to finish in ninth place. Special mentions to Henry, Lara, Lars, Scarlet and Isla for stepping up a height and first time competing in the prestigious arena.

Seniors
The equestrian team finished the day off with more success in the well-attended senior schools’ championship. Reece A and his horse, Checkmate Z1, produced a spectacular, speedy double clear over the challenging course to take second place. Freddie L, Morten D and Olivia S also competed well to achieve a respectable ninth place.

“ It was a great day of jumping from everyone! Especially considering the world-famous location and that many of our team were stepping up a level. Huge congratulations to all involved, and a thank you to those not competing who came to support their friends ”
Tracey Pargeter, Head of Equestrian and Sophie Rees, Equestrian Assistant
